EPISODE THREE: MY JOURNEY THROUGH PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Have you ever wondered why some people tend to do well in their career than others? It is because of the level of interest they have towards personal development.
Well, if this is your first time here, this is "Tea With Juliet Blog", a place where I "Talk Extensively Aright (TEA)".
So I started this series some weeks back, and here we have Episode Three, in case you have not seen the previous Episodes, do check them here;

It is until you accept that you need help and allow the right people proffer solutions to your problems, you will only keep walking in the dark.
Before I start, I will like to clarify some notions as regards development.
The first things to note about development is that first, it is an intentional step and in case you are one of those who are not ready to put to work what I’m about to share, then don’t bother reading this because it will be a waste of time.
Secondly, it is gradual; there are steps you need to take to arrive at your destination and you must be ready to be patient enought to continually fuel the processes. You have to put in WORK.
This is to tell you that it is not for lazy people; if you are not ready to show consistency and dedication to it, then don’t bother going into it.

Now back to my story….
I grew up in a middle-class home; I basically didn’t lack the basic needs of survival and all thanks to God and my parent for raising me the way they did, though I didn't like my growing because they were both disciplinarians and I felt their rigidity was so much. This continued until I saw myself losing confidence in things I would have done ordinarily because these experiences had instilled fear in me.
As early as 2016/2017, I can barely stand before a crowd to address them. This is to tell you how much it affected my self-esteem. I could demonstrate and do all I wanted behind closed doors, but obviously not amidst crowd.
Funny as it might sound, some persons actually saw ‘a sharp girl in me’, but I knew deep down that I was dying. Somehow, amidst all of these; I had this consciousness of ‘not being a normal child’; probably that was the reason God allowed me pass those stages so that I can eventually help others suffering from same issue.
I remember while growing up, I saw how young teenage girls had unwanted pregnancies due to nonchalant attitudes, peer pressure, and negligence. I saw how most of them practically dropped out of school as they had to assume the responsibilities of “premature mothers”. Somehow, I just didn’t want to end like one of them since it looked like a trend which possibly might last for years.
I knew I was different and unique, though there was no pointer yet I persisted and held on to my faith. Trust me, those times weren’t easy at all as I had several temptations and all, but till date, I can’t categorically tell you how I overcame; I guess God’s mercies kept showing and my mom’s prayers never left me.

2016 was the most challenging phase of my life; the year I thought about committing suicide as things weren’t playing out the way I wanted. Of course, I prayed about locating vision and purpose, but things became worse.
I can’t tell how I survived that year, but 2017 became my turning point. I attended a conference and there my word came.
I had heard about those words before, but the force with which they came was quite different from the normal sermons, so I made up my mind to put WORK to it. I remembered that what I had always lacked was discipline and divine guidance as I was doing things my own way and expecting God to make it work.
One of the lessons I have learnt so far is; Whatever God gives, it takes only him to sustain it.
Most times, we are fond of working off ourselves just to make things right even while we tread in the wrong direction.
Things don’t work like that. The Holy Spirit once told me, "Juliet you can’t use physical strength or wisdom to carry out supernatural tasks! If you must succeed in the vision and idea I have given you, then you must be patient enough to follow my instructions". This really hit me hard, of course, it wasn’t so easy to surrender, but I had to come to that place of “total submission" to him, if not I will only be beating the air with all my efforts.
Now back to my story, precisely 7th December 2017, I attended a conference where I caught the light that has been shining through my paths till date. After that encounter, I went into personal and deep question and answer with God in the secret place and it was there that I got the perfect answer to what I am sharing today.
Let me state here that all didn’t just end at praying, it took studying, networking with people of like minds and vision, staying at my place of assignments and ever since the journey had been swift. Despite the challenges, I kept pushing because I knew where exactly I am aiming at and I just believe I have gone too far to quit.
Now before I wrap this up, here are some tips I applied which worked for me, it could possibly work for you as well:
1. Find what you love and master the art behind it: for me, I love writing, not just any form of work but stories with lessons that will inspire people. It was my love for it that made me go into being a lifestyle blogger and so far, lives have been transformed and blessed through that platform. Though I started with quotes, and over time it developed into sharing stories and artworks
2. Consistently show in what you do. If for any reason you start and at some point you stop dishing out values, that will show a great sign of laziness and indiscipline on your part. Truth is, it’s not always easy starting, in fact, your friends and families won’t support you, but let “your determination for success" be at the apex, because in it lies your success story.
For me, I didn’t get any support from my family, but today “everyone is proud of me". That is because they saw my determination and as the results kept coming, they didn’t have any other option than to key in.
3. Start anywhere and Anyhow: One of the problems we have in launching is how to start. We think so low of ourselves and as a result of the several uncertainties, we think we are not enough. The truth is, everybody has something to share no matter how little they appear and we can only share them when we make up our mind.
So start at any level. You don’t need too much, the little you have is enough. For instance, I leveraged my social media platforms and so far, the story has changed.
Just like I stated at the beginning, the first step to all I have outlined is to accept that you need help and you are willing to put these things to work. All is not in the saying, but in learning to do the work.
I hope you found this valuable.
